For nearly 50 years, The Chicago Reporter has served as a journalistic agent of change through its fact-and data-based reporting on issues of equity and inclusion until recently when the Reporter’s fiscal parent, The Community Renewal Society, removed the editor and publisher and put the publication on hiatus. As alumni, we are calling on CRS leadership to restore the independent editorial control that is crucial to the Reporter’s ability to conduct investigations that hold institutions and leaders accountable on issues of race, ethnicity, poverty and justice.
